1 · Information we collect

• ›Account data — your name, email address, and profile picture provided when you sign in with Google.
• ›Usage data — rooms you join or create, messages you send, points transactions, and general interaction logs.
• ›Device & log data — IP address, browser/OS version, crash reports, and performance diagnostics used to maintain service quality.
• ›Payment data — payment transactions are processed by Stripe. We do not store raw card numbers on our servers.

2 · Device permissions

The mobile app requests the following permissions only when you use the relevant features:

• ›Camera — required only when you choose to publish your video stream inside a video room. Never accessed in the background.
• ›Microphone — required only when you join a voice or video room and choose to speak. Never accessed in the background.
• ›Storage / Media Library — used to cache app assets and media for faster load times. No personal media files are read or uploaded without your explicit action.

You can revoke any permission at any time in your device settings. Revoking camera or microphone access will disable the corresponding room feature.

3 · How we use your data

• ›To operate, maintain, and improve the Heated Debates platform.
• ›To stream audio/video from live rooms to our real-time infrastructure (LiveKit) — data is not stored after the room ends unless a recording is explicitly started.
• ›To manage your points balance, process payments, and detect abuse or fraud.
• ›To send service-related notifications (e.g., account security alerts). We do not send unsolicited marketing emails.
• ›We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

4 · Third-party services

We use the following third-party providers. Their use is governed by their own privacy policies.

5 · Data retention

• ›Account data is retained while your account is active or as required by law.
• ›Deleted accounts are purged within 30 days, except where retention is required for legal or fraud-prevention purposes.
• ›Chat messages in closed rooms may be retained for moderation purposes for up to 90 days before permanent deletion.

6 · Your rights & choices

• ›Access & correction — you can view and update your profile at any time from the app settings.
• ›Data deletion — to request deletion of your account and associated data, email contact@heateddebatesapp.com.
• ›Permission controls — deny or revoke camera/microphone permissions via your device settings at any time.
• ›Residents of the EU, UK, California (CCPA), and other jurisdictions with applicable privacy laws may have additional rights. Contact us to exercise them.

7 · Security

We use industry-standard security practices including HTTPS/TLS encryption in transit, encrypted storage, and access controls. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure — we encourage you to use a strong, unique password and enable Google's account security features.

8 · Children's privacy

Heated Debates is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us immediately.

9 · Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting a notice in the app or via email. Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
